Description
Nuits-Saint-George Premier Cru Red "Château-Gris" Monopole 2018 from Domaine Château-Gris de la maison Albert Bichot
LA MAISON Albert Bichot, founded in 1831 by Bernard Bichot in Monthélie, has established itself in the Burgundian wine world. The family heritage dates back to 1214 in Châteauneuf-en-Auxois. Under Albert Bichot I, it moved to Beaune in 1912, beginning an international expansion. Subsequent generations modernized infrastructure and conquered new markets. Albéric Bichot, since 1996, has been guiding la maison towards sustainable viticultural practices, switching to organic farming in the 2000s. Committed to the preservation of the environment, la maison supports marine research and the protection of the climats of Burgundy. Culturally, it promotes literature, music and les arts through various events. LA MAISON Albert Bichot values local know-how and authenticity, while preserving the natural balance of the Burgundian terroirs.
The Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru "Château-Gris", a monopoly of Château-Gris, is a Pinot Noir grown on clay-limestone soils, covering an area of 2.55 ha with an average age of the vines of 35 to 40 years. Located in the sud-ouest of Nuits-Saint-Georges, this terraced vineyard, between 260 and 330 metres above sea level, produces a distinguished wine. The manual harvest is followed by fermentation maceration in temperature-controlled wooden vats for 18 to 21 days and ageing in oak barrels (35 to 40% new) for 16 to 17 months. On tasting, its elegant bouquet reveals aromas of red and black fruits, flowers and wood. Its smooth palate combines fruity richness and racy tannins, offering a fresh finish. To be served at 16-17°C, it can be kept for 5 to 7 years or more. It can be enjoyed with roasted meats or meats in sauce, and full-bodied cheeses.
