Description
In Savoie-Bugey, white wines bear the mark of the Roussette grape, also known as Altesse, and the reds are characterized by the Mondeuse grape alongside other very local varieties such as Bergeron (Roussanne), Jacquère (white), or Persan (red). Whether still or sparkling, of high quality, the wines derived from them offer delightful surprises when tasted. But this book offers much more: a meeting with the women and men who work the vineyards in grandiose and sometimes very steep landscapes, who live their profession with passion and are happy to introduce you to their territories: open days at the estates and walks through the vineyards, hikes on foot or by bike, ascents of mythical mountain passes, swimming in lakes and waterfalls, visits to abbeys and castles, or tasting local products in the numerous restaurants that dot these regions, wine tourism truly lives up to its name here! These encounters, vividly recounted by the lively and passionate pen of Idelette Fritsch, are beautifully captured in images by Emmanuel Perrin. Together, they have managed to bring out the best in the winemakers in their environment.
