Description
What is the oldest sparkling wine in the world? It's the famous Blanquette-de-Limoux, one of the oldest designations in Languedoc. Through numerous testimonies and documents, the author narrates the history of wines from the Limoux appellation, including its sparkling wines, intertwined with the events of the Midi rouge crisis, market conquests, and heritage discoveries. This appellation, a flagship of Languedoc wines, showcases the history of sparkling wines, Blanquette, Crémant, and great Chardonnays. The Limoux appellation remains unique, being both the stronghold of Languedoc sparkling wines and a vast terroir for white wines. In the Occitanie region, it has a special place at the crossroads of two climates, from which the entire region benefits greatly. Christelle Zamora, a specialized journalist based in Montpellier, developed an interest in winemaking after studying European law at the Wine University in Suze-la-Rousse. Recognizing that good wine is best enjoyed with good food, she delves into the world of gastronomy and regional cuisine. Having contributed to around thirty national, regional, and specialized magazines, she runs a wine-focused blog (bonbecboheme.fr) and has published her first book with Éditions Privat. Arnaud Spâni, a professional photographer specializing in landscapes, architecture, and gastronomy, has authored over fifty books in France and internationally, including titles like Les Fromages. Encyclopédie passionnée de la gastronomie en Occitanie (2017), Pillon Toulouse. L'Odyssée des saveurs (2017), and La table du 11 (2018) with Éditions Privat.
