Description
The Passot family is anxiously awaiting the visit of Georges Perrachon, the owner of the vineyard that the family has been working on for twelve years. The lease needs to be renewed for another six years, and their survival depends on this renewal. Joseph produces the best wine in the region, but he is afraid that a younger man, favored by the local marquis, might be chosen over him. The Passots welcome Perrachon and his coachman as honored guests, sparing no expense despite their modest means. The negotiations are tough, and Joseph senses Perrachon's reluctance. Finally, an agreement is reached. The next morning, Perrachon leaves at dawn without notifying anyone. During the night, Jeanne, the eldest daughter, is knocked unconscious and raped. Although she didn't see her attacker, all suspicions point to Perrachon. But what can be done against a monster who holds the family's daily bread in his hands?
