Description
2010: International Year of Biodiversity, Shanghai World Expo. This novel is an investigation into the land of vineyards and wine. The small village of Jobigny La Ronce, as well as the Domaine de La Clairgerie, are not found on any map. Let's say they are close to Beaune, in Burgundy. Throughout a plot that intertwines science, ecology, drama, and fantasy, the author invites us to "ride on the wine" and discover strange landscapes where curious insects rule. The Ladybugs of the Devil, a metaphor for the fear of the Other, the "yellow peril," but a real scourge that arouses passions. A wild planet, heinous crimes, turbulent climates, could the wine be troubled? Logically, yes! But isn't logic the last refuge of the unimaginative? Nature, mismanaged by humans, is far more dangerous than a firearm. And if the French gastronomic meal is included in the intangible cultural heritage of humanity, let us not forget that wine embodies its spirit.
