Description
Roots of natural wine, a year in the vineyard is a year-long journey. The passage of the seasons, the work in the vineyard and in the winery shown through the most representative natural wine producers in Spain. A recognition and approach to the winegrowers, their lives, and therefore, their wines. A tour of 27 wineries from all over Spain producing natural wines obtained with the least possible intervention.
Roots of natural wine, a year in the vineyard offers the reader an eminently photographic itinerary with which they can observe up close the landscape where the vines grow, the inner workings of the wineries, or the daily lives of the producers themselves. The book is structured according to the four seasons, and in each of them, we can discover different wineries alongside their respective winegrowers. The author provides basic information about the processes of each producer, and they, in turn, talk about their interests and motivations. The book includes a small glossary of the technical terminology used in the text, an essential tool for beginners in the world of natural wines.
Clara Isamat Rivière (Barcelona, 1971) Photographer by training and sommelier by vocation, she has worked for over 20 years as a photojournalist in daily press and cultural publications. She entered the world of wine after opening her own restaurant in 2005. Since then, she has been getting closer and closer to the minimally interventionist producers, their stories, and their wines. She speaks, advises, and tastes from her website www.vinoscompartidos.com. In 2015, she picked up the camera again to be able to teach and share what she has learned about these new crops over the past 10 years.
Awarded the 2016 Harvest Prize for the best documentary work for Spontaneous Fermentation, at the 6th edition of the Most - International Wine and Cava Film Festival. Third prize in Wine Books, in the Organic & Biodynamic category at the 2017 Gourmand Awards.
