In April 1994, the conference of the International Association of Wine Law Jurists (AIDV), held in Suze-La-Rousse, focused on the issue of controls in the wine sector. 25 years later, a seminar on wine law, organized in Reims on October 1, 2019 by the Wine & Law Program - Jean Monnet Chair and the Georges Chappaz Institute of Vine and Wine in Champagne, revisited the same issue. Legal systems of Germany, the United States, Australia, Canada, Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland, as well as that of the European Union, are being studied by recognized experts to evaluate the effectiveness of wine controls.
