Description
"I return from a dream, like falling out of bed, my face marked by the fold of events." This lifelong dream for Laure Gasparotto is the vineyard. No longer just tasting and analyzing wines, legendary, forgotten, innovative, or even writing about them in her books, but embarking on the adventure herself, hands in the soil: becoming a winegrower. A mother of two children and recently separated from their father, the narrator decides to change everything. Supported by a few friends, she leaves Paris and buys a plot of land in the terraces of Larzac. Thus, her domain, Les Gentillières, is born. In the heart of these rocky and secretive valleys, where earth and sky struggle and exchange, enthusiasm takes over. Nature gives itself, young children run around and pick the reddening grapes, it's already the excitement of the first harvest. The world of vineyards, steeped in legends and ancestral know-how, is also a business where one must "make their wine," name it, design the label, let it mature, and make it known. A total adventure, between cellars, tractors, pruning shears, and hailstorms. Because the job is tough, obsessive, and dangerous. The winegrower is alone in their fields, isolated facing the rigidity of bureaucracy and in a male-dominated world. The vine demands, the vine consumes. It's not a job but a life... In this tale of metamorphoses, Laure Gasparotto tells her story day by day. She has changed her life, and each moment was a costly, passionate laboratory of personal research and development. And if in the end, it's not our life but ourselves that we must reinvent?
