Description
For the ancient Chinese poet, wine is as important as ink or brush. The intoxication it brings allows one to harmonize with the natural course of things, to enter into communion with circumstances, to be in tune with the flow of the eternally present moment. Wine introduces man to a wisdom beyond all morality: it allows one to forget the past and disregard the future to fully devote oneself to the present, in a wonderful contemplation of the world. In the lineage of The Tao of Living and The Art of the Siesta, Hervé Collet and Cheng Wing Fun have gathered here the most intoxicating texts of this tradition, from Tao Yuanming, a great poet and philosopher in love with wine, to Lu Yu, "the old man who does as he pleases," passing through Li Po, "drinking alone under the moon."
