Description
The wine industry is facing today an unprecedented situation in light of the plurality of environmental, climatic, technological, economic, demographic, and societal challenges that characterize the contemporary context.
Winemakers are at the heart of the transformations generated by these challenges, which social sciences can understand at different scales and in different spaces - geographical, professional, and institutional.
Based on empirical approaches, economists, geographers, historians, political scientists, and sociologists offer insights into the ongoing processes that affect all aspects of the winemaker's profession.
From professional, individual, and collective practices to the roles of professional organizations or public and private actors accompanying the changes, this book analyzes and decrypts different configurations in which responses to current and future challenges are developed. It focuses on how winemakers and industry actors make choices and innovate in wine production and valorization methods, highlighting the diversity of profiles and trajectories of winemakers contributing to the ongoing changes.
