Description
There are now two cuvées named Marius, one red and one white. Michel Chapoutier created them as a tribute to his great-grandfather, Marius (1871-1937), who was quite a character! He placed the family name at the top of the list of Côtes du Rhône wines and made it famous even in the United States. All that was left to do was to reconstruct the various episodes of his extraordinary career, with all its joys, tragedies, and successes. After a year of research, sifting through archives and correspondence, collecting eyewitness accounts and photographs, the journalist and historian Jean-Claude Chapuzet brought Marius Chapoutier back to life. Marius was a wine merchant from Tain l'Hermitage who loved his terroir, vines, and women.
