Description
Photographer and filmmaker, but above all an unwavering admirer of the wild world, Vincent Munier has opened a long-term conversation with animals from his hides. A dialogue without words, which relies only on the image to express life and beauty.
Since his first photograph at the age of 12, which left him trembling with emotion in front of a deer in the forest of his childhood, his quest has taken him from the Arctic to Antarctica, to the Ethiopian and Tibetan plateaus, to the heart of the volcanoes of Kamchatka and the great American spaces, to always bring him back to the Vosges, the native land and melting pot of his art.
Elegantly crafted, this book compiles 35 years of photography:
- 320 images, including the most emblematic, and many previously unseen ones. They have each been finely photo-etched to ensure a faithful rendering. The printing was carried out in France, following an original tailor-made process, which allows to faithfully reproduce the images.
Two different mediums were chosen: pure white uncoated paper to highlight the photographs; A lighter and more delicate paper for the test part.
Vincent Munier signe two personal texts, at the opening and closing of the book. Sylvain Tesson accompanies it with an afterword.
A retrospective of light, paper and poetry...
