Description
Champagne 1er Cru Brut Nature "Longues Violes" 2013 | Wine from Maison Georges Laval
The Champagne 1er Cru Brut Nature "Longues Violes" 2013 is the flagship cuvée of the Georges Laval estate, produced in very small quantities from the family vineyards located in Cumières, a premier cru village. The vineyard is cultivated without synthetic or chemical products, following the principles of organic viticulture. Vincent Laval, master of the estate since 1996, carefully oversees each stage of production, ensuring the pure expression of the terroir.
This cuvée is a blend of Pinot Meunier (planted after World War II) and Pinot Noir (vines from 1964 and 1984). After natural fermentation in oak barrels and 70 months on the lees, this wine reveals exceptional maturity while preserving the freshness and minerality of the terroir. Its complex aromas of fruits, flowers, and a slight oxidation combine with a chalky structure, typical of the great champagnes of Cumières.
Tasting the Champagne "Longues Violes" 2013 reveals a perfectly balanced wine with fine and persistent bubbles. The nose offers subtle notes of fresh fruits and white flowers, with a touch of chalky minerality and a slight oxidative note. On the palate, the complexity is impressive, with a long saline finish, marked by a beautiful structure and impeccable balance.
This Champagne is ideal to accompany seafood such as oysters, scallops, or shrimp. It also pairs perfectly with vegetarian dishes with subtle flavors, or as an aperitif with fine fish or fresh cheese appetizers.
The Maison Georges Laval, located in Cumières in Champagne, is a confidential family estate, managed by Vincent Laval since 1996. The estate spans only 3 hectares of vineyards, all cultivated according to organic farming principles, without any synthetic products or chemical inputs. The vinification is equally respectful, with a total absence of chaptalization and fermentation in oak barrels. The estate produces terroir wines with remarkable precision, expressing the purity of the region's chalky soil.
