Description
Champagne Champagne Extra-Brut "Bollinger RD 2008" Champagne House Bollinger
LA MAISON de Champagne Bollinger, founded in 1829 in Aÿ, France, is renowned for its commitment to the exceptional quality of its champagnes. It is renowned for its rich and powerful style, especially thanks to the use of a high proposal of reserve wines in its cuvées. It was born from the meeting between Athanase de Villermont, a Champagne owner, and the German wine merchant Joseph Bollinger. It was in 1920 that Jacques Bollinger, a member of the family, breathed exceptional fame into this house and in particular thanks to the creation of the prestigious cuvée Bollinger RD. It stands out for its independence and family character, a rarity in the world of champagne. All the cuvées are of great class and reveal a lot of personalities.
This Champagne Extra-Brut "Bollinger RD 2008" from la maison Bollinger embodies the precision and splendour of the 2008 vintage. This blend combines 71% Pinot Noir and 29% Chardonnay, from 18 crus with a predominance of Aÿ and Verzenay for Pinot Noir, and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Cramant for Chardonnay. Fermentation in oak barrels gives it an exceptional quality. The Bollinger R.D. is disgorged only a few months before it is put on the market, with a very low dosage, classified as "Extra Brut" with only 3 grams of sugar per litre. 2008 was an exceptional year despite uncertain weather conditions. This year's wines are characterized by powerful aromas, with lively Chardonnays and balanced Pinot Noirs. It reveals a golden colour, a nose and greedy aromas of marzipan, apricot, honey and bergamot. On the palate, it offers a rich and precise effervescence with flavors of mirabelle plum, vine peach and citrus. Its complexity is fully revealed, with a saline finish and notes of fresh hazelnut, offering a remarkable persistence in the mouth.
