The Atelier Douris Chastel, founded in 1942 near Thiers, is a key player in French knife-making, particularly in the creation of folding knives. The story begins with Pierre Douris and Lucienne Chastel, a passionate young couple who bought the Charles Choty establishment. Thanks to Pierre's ingenuity, he designed an automatic knife in 1947 with a never-before-seen mechanism, marking the start of the company's success and its reputation in the world of artisan knife-making.

In the 1960s, Pierre continued to innovate with ejectable blade models like the famous Superoto (1962), which sold thousands of units. Other notable creations, such as fishing knives with a disgorger and hunting knives with pliers, solidified the company's growing reputation.

The multi-blade model Le Pionnier, launched in the late 1970s, remains the brand's most successful product, a true icon of pocket knife craftsmanship.

The family legacy continued when Solange Combronde, the daughter of Pierre and Lucienne, took over the business, ensuring a smooth transition to modernity while preserving the company's artisanal spirit. In 2019, the workshop was acquired by Goyon-Chazeau, ensuring that Douris Chastel's unique know-how would live on.

Today, Goyon-Chazeau continues to reintroduce historical models like La Navette and Le Pionnier, maintaining a 100% French and 100% artisanal production process, combining tradition with modernity to meet the expectations of knife enthusiasts.
