This abundantly illustrated book offers a playful and cultural journey, both playful and erudite, to explore the pleasures and desires through centuries and countries. Structured around a rich selection of artworks from the past (paintings, sculptures, engravings...), the book presents numerous objects from popular arts (bottles, corkscrews, drawings...), postcards, as well as bookplates and wine labels. The book also includes two original studies on Dionysian rites and Christian uses of wine, two unpublished literary texts, and a humorous and scientific demonstration of the links between wine and love! To reflect the modern era, 38 artists were invited to express themselves on the theme.
