Vineyard, wine, and education from the 18th century to today

This book addresses the topic of vineyards, wine, and education from a variety of perspectives: the construction of training schools, the dissemination of knowledge, learning professional skills, hygiene, the importance of vineyards and wine in some school textbooks of certain teaching disciplines, all in different regions of France but also in a wide range of European wine-producing countries.

The theme of vineyards, wine, and education allows for the observation of several phenomena: the establishment of the first private professional schools; the investments made by large property owners who sought to train their employees in public schools; learning about vineyard cultivation and wine production through observation; the emergence of specific places that arose from the need, as early as the 19th century, to train professionals capable of replicating a gesture or learning a trade; the establishment of agronomic and oenological stations, and consequently, the creation of schools to train oenologists.
