1 Last items in stockThe vineyards of the Near East do not often receive special attention, and those of Lebanon even less so. This book by Jean-Pierre Bel fills this gap by studying the viticultural areas of the Bekaa. The renaissance of the Lebanese vineyard occurred after the 19th century, driven by the Jesuit Fathers. A revolution in production took place after the civil war of 1990, restructuring the planted areas and reshaping the territory.

Description
The vineyards of the Near East do not often receive special attention, and those of Lebanon even less so. This book, written by Jean-Pierre Bel and published by Books on Demand, aims to fill this gap by focusing on the vineyard areas of the Bekaa, a large interior plain of this state.
The vine has existed there for a very long time, but the revival of the Lebanese vineyard occurred after the mid-19th century under the impetus of the Jesuit Fathers. Throughout the 20th century, it only experienced minimal changes.
It is after the end of the civil war in 1990 that a true revolution in production methods took place, with a restructuring of planted areas accompanied by a territorial reorganization.
This study uses the vineyard landscapes created by the growers as a guiding thread, visual elements that show the genesis of an expanding vineyard.
