Description
Puligny-Montrachet Blanc 1er Cru "Hameau De Blagny" 2022 | Wine from Domaine Thomas Collardot
Located in the heart of the prestigious Puligny-Montrachet appellation, the Domaine Thomas Collardot is a family estate that spans 2.5 hectares. Since 2010, Jacqueline Collardot has continued a heritage passed down from her father Pierre Thomas and her ancestors. The vines, some of which were planted more than 60 years ago, receive careful attention and a respectful approach to the terroir. Each cuvée precisely and elegantly expresses the specific qualities of the plots that make up the estate.
The Puligny-Montrachet Blanc 1er Cru "Hameau De Blagny" 2022 comes from a plot of 18a42, planted in 1962, located at an altitude of 350 meters on the heights of Puligny-Montrachet. The terroir, rich in marly-limestone soils, brings remarkable depth and finesse to this wine.
The name of the climate, "Hameau De Blagny", refers to the houses that made up this hamlet where, from the 12th century, the Cistercian monks of Maizières were already cultivating vines. This historical heritage gives this wine a unique patrimonial dimension.
The grapes are harvested manually in small perforated crates, ensuring optimal fruit quality. After a gentle 4-hour pressing and a 24-hour settling, the must is transferred to 350-liter oak barrels for fermentation with indigenous yeasts. No sulfur is added before the end of the malolactic fermentations. The aging on lees lasts between 10 and 12 months, followed by a final blending in stainless steel vats for 2 to 4 months.
The Puligny-Montrachet Blanc 1er Cru "Hameau De Blagny" 2022 features a bright golden robe that reflects the richness of the vintage. On the nose, the wine reveals a refined bouquet of ripe and crisp orchard fruits, accompanied by subtle notes of hazelnuts, toasted almonds, and wet stone.
On the palate, the attack is medium-bodied and elegant, marked by a beautiful mineral tension that harmoniously balances the richness of the fruity flavors. The notes of hazelnuts and almonds extend, supported by vibrant acidity. The finish is long, precise, and remarkably persistent, showcasing the great aging potential of this cuvée.
This prestigious white wine pairs perfectly with fine and delicate dishes. It will enhance a roasted sea bass with fresh herbs, a lobster in a light butter sauce, or a Bresse chicken with cream and morels. It will also accompany a risotto with white truffles or pan-seared scallops with lime. For a cheese experience, opt for an aged Comté or an old Beaufort, which will highlight the finesse and minerality of this wine.
