The Pommard Premier Cru Red "Les Chanlins-Bas" 2023 from the Domain Maxime Dubuet-Boillot is a confidential cuvée that illustrates all the finesse and power of the great wines of Pommard.
Situated in the immediate vicinity of the famous climate of Rugiens, the plot of only 10 ares is the smallest vinified by the estate. The vines of Pinot Noir flourish in a terroir composed of brown and white clays, scattered with small pebbles, which give the wine a remarkable concentration and an elegant structure.
The harvest is done by hand with a meticulous selection of the berries. The clusters, with tiny grapes reminiscent of the size of blackcurrant berries, provide an unparalleled aromatic intensity and richness on the palate. The winemaking process respects the natural balance: about 80% of the harvest is destemmed, followed by a gentle maceration to preserve the purity of the fruit.
The aging lasts 12 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new, in order to bring complexity, structure, and depth without overshadowing the identity of the terroir. The result is a wine that combines intensity and subtlety, with a great aging potential.
Dress : deep red with garnet reflections.
Nose : aromas of dark fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry), hints of sweet spices, delicate smoky and woody notes.
Mouth : concentration and finesse, silky yet powerful tannins, perfect balance between fruit and oak. The long and racy finish reflects the signature of the great terroirs of Pommard 1st Cru.
This Pommard 1st Cru will accompany beautifully:
a roast beef or a game bird,
stews like a refined beef bourguignon,
ripened soft or blue-veined cheeses.
This 2023 vintage can be enjoyed as early as 2026 for its fruity brightness, but it will reach its full maturity after a few years in the cellar, between 2030 and 2040.
