Morey-Saint-Denis Red 1er Cru "Les Genavrières" 2023 | Wine from Domaine Gérard Peirazeau
The Domaine Gérard Peirazeau cultivates the vine with passion and rigor over 3.65 hectares spread across Chambolle-Musigny, Morey-Saint-Denis, and Gevrey-Chambertin. Artisans of the Côte de Nuits, the winemakers of the estate have chosen a natural winemaking process, without exogenous yeasts or corrective products, to fully express the terroir. Each cuvée reflects the minerality and structure of the best Burgundy climates.
The climate "Les Genavrières" is located in the heart of the 1er Crus of Morey-Saint-Denis, on well-drained clay-limestone soils, exposed to the east. The 2023 vintage benefited from ideal conditions, offering perfectly ripe grapes, balanced by a beautiful natural acidity.
The Pinot Noirs are vinified with partially destemmed clusters, with gentle extraction to preserve finesse. No additives are used during fermentation: no yeasts, no enzymes, no acid correction, to produce a wine true to its terroir. Aging is done in oak barrels for 12 to 18 months.
The wine presents a deep ruby color with violet reflections.
The nose opens with complex aromas of black cherry, raspberry, sweet pepper, and underbrush.
The palate is straight, structured, with a nice body and fine tannins. The finish is long, mineral, with remarkable tension that promises a beautiful evolution in the cellar.
This Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru pairs wonderfully with a matured rib steak, a roasted pigeon, a poultry glazed with mild spices, or a veal braised with chanterelles. It also goes well with aged cheeses like Langres or Livarot. Serve it between 18 and 19°C
